Dear blog readers,
June and July have been busy months for me, and as you can see, there has been little action on this site. Therefore, I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know what I have been up to.
I haven’t been away on an exotic holiday, I have been enjoying the English weather (mainly rain), just as much as everyone else. However, I am not even slightly sad about this as I have managed to get loads done in these last few weeks.
First of all, I have given two presentations on my research topic and why we need to increase the discussion surrounding male body image. The first of these was at the Psychology PhD conference at Leeds Beckett University, and the second was at the North East Body Psychology meeting at Durham University. I really enjoyed giving these presentations, and the engagement and feedback received was extremely welcome and useful.
I was also fortunate enough to be asked to contribute to the Beauty Demands blog, where I discussed the feminisation of ‘Body Image’ as a concept. The post titled Why ‘Body Image’ Needs a Makeover! can be found here.
In addition, I have been busy analysing some more data for my first study on social discourses in response to the disclosure of male body image dissatisfaction, which I hope to have finished soon. However, during my reading, as well as some recent media articles, I have been inspired to write a new post which I have just started, on what exactly we mean when we use the word ‘Fit’. I hope to publish this within the next couple of days, and hope that you will find it interesting.
On that note, please feel free to join in the conversation by adding your own comments on my posts, or through the contact page here. It would be great to hear your thoughts and suggestions.
To sum up, sorry for the ramble, but I felt it was important to keep you updated as you have previously taken the time to take an interest. Have a great weekend, and thank you for reading.
